Clive had his surgery on February 8, 2011. He recovered very quickly and has taken over the house! You can read his progress reports below, and you can also look for Clive's Story on Facebook where you will find more recent updates and photos of Clive!

About Clive

Clive and his brothers were found by a lady, a Good Samaritan, when they were just a couple weeks old, after their mom cat had been killed by a car. The kittens were bottle fed by the lady, and then they were taken in by the rescue group with which Clive's mom is a kitty foster mom, and that's how Clive ended up where he is today! By the way, Clive's brothers have already been adopted...together!

Local rescue groups usually don't have enough funds to be able to spend money on costly surgeries, and so unfortunately most rescued animals with a serious condition like Clive's often have to be euthanized so they don't suffer. When Clive's foster mom found out about his condition, her choices were
  1. have him euthanized so he wouldn't suffer
  2. take him home, add him to the family, and try to fix him
Well, for Clive's foster mom, having him euthanized wasn't even an option to consider...

Clive is one very lucky kitty!

Clive's mom says...

"This is the story of Clive one of my foster kittens. I wasn't going to share anything about little Clive because I thought his life was going to be short and bleak and I just didn't want to make people sad but so far there has been nothing bleak about Clive. In fact I have been so surprised by Clive's completely exuberant and enthusiastic personality that I decided I didn't want his story to go untold.

"You see Clive seemed to be a normal little kitten but he kept throwing up and didn't seem to be getting as big as his brothers so back to the vet he went. Unfortunately the news was not good for him. He has a condition called Persistent Right Aortic Arch and it may be fatal. His aorta is wrapped around his esophagus and he is unable to swallow food properly. Right now though he is doing ok and is able to keep canned kitten food down and he seems to be totally unaware that he is sick.

"He is hands down the most social and outgoing kitten I have ever seen. He loves Billie Anne and Ty, my two quite large dogs and ran right up to them even the very first time he saw them seemingly fearless. He seems to have really bonded with Ty and runs around rubbing on Ty's leg and everything. He tries that with my two cats also but they are not very pleased with his presence and they growl and hiss at him so he is making better friends with the dogs. He hasn't quit trying to win the cats over though. In fact he tries to win everyone over. He just can't understand why everyone is not as friendly as he is."

Clive's Family...
Along with Clive's human mom and dad here are...

Buddy, in his new bed,
hoping the young intruder (that's Clive) doesn't see him...

Starburst, indulging in her favorite beverage...

Billie Anne - Clive didn't get to go to the river with Billie Anne :(...

And of course you've already met Ty,
aka "Daddy" because when Clive first came to live with them he always followed Ty everywhere!
