Clive is very cute and playful, and he loves everyone...cats, dogs, and humans! By all appearances he is a normal kitten but when Clive was weaned he couldn't keep his food down and he was much smaller than his brothers. Initially it was thought that Clive had Persistent Right Aortic Arch but during surgery it was discovered that he had Aberrant Left Subclavian Artery (see tabs below for more info). Clive had his surgery on February the 8th...
Clive had his surgery on February 8, 2011. He recovered very quickly and has taken over the house! You can read his progress reports below, and you can also look for Clive's Story on Facebook where you will find more recent updates and photos of Clive!

Fireball says "Clive, if you get well soon I will give you one of my most prized catnip fishies"!
ReplyDeletePoor little guy. I'm sure the ER docs will be able to figure it out. Let us know as soon as you hear anything. We are keeping out paws crossed. ♥
ReplyDeleteWell the ER doc could tell that one side of his mouth was swollen and found an infected tooth so it seems now that it is all dental pain causing his problems. It is one of his baby teeth and it was broken and infected and so loose that it was getting stuck sort of half out of his mouth between his upper and lower lip which sounds horribly painful. She was able to just pull it out without anesthesia because it was so loose so now he is on antibiotics and the infection should clear up. He ate a little bit of human baby food at the ER after she pulled it out so that is a good sign. Now he is sleeping but I will try to feed him more later on. He does still seem stiff on his one arm but not nearly as much and she said the infection can cause a general feeling of malaise (he also has a fever) which could cause stiffness. it's so hard to tell what is going on with cats because they get all secretive and just huddle up and sulk around so I never thought to even look in his mouth and our family vet last night just missed it I guess. So end result is try the antibiotics for several days and see if it all clears up.
ReplyDeleteThanks Fireball! I know you love those things so that means a lot!
What a relief. A bad tooth...who would have thought? We were really scared!!! How's he doing tonight?
ReplyDeleteThat's really nice of Fireball to give Clive catnip fishie! :)
He is still laying in his little bed and hasn't walked around at all during the day. He is more alert though and is holding his head up and looking around at stuff. I tried his normal canned food and even tried kitten formula and still couldn't get him to eat anything all day so I went and got some baby food since that worked in the ER and he loved it! He ate a whole jar of it so I feel better now that he has some nutrition in him. He has gotten 2 doses of antibiotics today too.
